I have been less regimented with the scabies lotion (Quellada) over the last year - only using it for a couple of nights in a row when I get a breakout on my chin or in the nasal folds.
I haven't had any more laser treatment since I finished the course in early 2016.
My routine these days is very simple. I keep my skin clean with a gentle cleanser (Cetaphil) and because I'm now 50 years old, I've been using a basic hyaluronic acid to keep the wrinkles at bay topped with Cetaphil lotion (to trap the hyaluronic acid in).
I always wear a hat when I got outside and I am mostly pretty good at remembering to apply sunscreen.
This probably really is my last post regarding my battle with rosacea. ...maybe...
All the very best

Hi Kate, thanks so much for posting again, your results are amazing! After 5 years of suffering I finally found a doctor who listened to me when I said I wanted to try soolantra. I'm only 8 weeks in and have seen a great improvement overall but I keep coming back to your blog when days are tough, (things definitely get worse before they get better), and you've been my inspiration to keep going and I wanted to say a huge thank you xx
ReplyDeleteHi Mini5, thank you for writing. I am so happy you are using SooLantra and seeing results. Who would have thought a microscopic creature could cause so much damage and unhappiness. Take care and smile because in only a matter of months you are going to be blemish free! I'm curious, had you experienced a major illness sometime over the last 10 years? Something which could have triggered an imbalance enough for a mite to take the upper hand? You don't have to answer but it's what I believe happened in my case.
DeleteIt's lovely of you to thank me so thank you too for taking the time to write. I sincerely want to help all sufferers to avoid the time wasting experimentation I went through.
My best wishes for your eradication,
Kate
Hi Kate, thank you for your kind words, yes I do believe it's linked to a health crisis because although when I first developed this skin problem I'd spent a couple of years losing weight and eating healthily I had however, been under huge amounts of stress and using those make up removing wipes and other astringent face products. I believe that the wipes etc are much too harsh and stripped my face of its natural oils and protection. At the time, with the spots developing, I thought I needed even more intense cleansing which probably just made my face even more vulnerable to attack. Coupled with high levels of stress, my immune system was completely out of whack, as I was catching just about any little illness you can think of, constant colds, flu etc. I think it was just one thing more for my body to deal with and obviously it couldn't! So when the doctors told me it was linked to what I was eating, drinking or some intestinal problem I was very sceptical as I'd never been as physically healthy as I was at that point. Unfortunately, when you're first diagnosed with 'rosacea' the doctors just want to stick you on antibiotics and basically deal with it! Not a great solution for such a distressing condition, so that started my search for a better answer and experimented with all sorts, diet changes, skin care etc. I gradually realised less is more with skincare and diet made not a bit of difference.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, sorry for rambling, and thank you again, because without people like you there are lots of us who would still be struggling with this problem.
With very best wishes

Hi Kate,
ReplyDeleteI've been cursed with rosacea for at least fifteen years. Your blog gave me so much hope and relief. Then I realized that the Quellada lotion isn't available in Canada. Based on reviews I've read on Soolantra, I'd really prefer trying something else. Could you suggest which ingredients I should look for?
Hi
DeleteIn Canada look for Kwellada-P lotion (5% permethrin). It is available over the counter.
Keep in touch.
Kind regards
Kate
Thanks so much! I love how quite a few of the products that actually work for people explicitly warn against applying to the face lol. I'm going to see whether I can find this thing at my pharmacy, as well as look into zinc creams.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, your skin looks amazing! Honestly, based on the most recent photos, I assumed you were at most in your very early thirties.
Thanks again,
Lana
